Anne Danican Philidor (1681 – 1728) - French woodwind player and composer from the Philidor musical family: his grandfather was a musician in the royal service. The composer was named Anne after his godfather and supporter Anne Jules de Noailles. In 1702 he succeeded his father in the royal orchestra, primarily as oboist. Today, he is known (among other things) as the royal librarian and the founder of the
Concert Spirituel, an important series of public concerts held at the Tuileries Palace between 1725 and 1791. Anne Philidor is the author of two books for solo instrument and continuo and several spiritual compositions.
